The Z Chair was originally developed for the opening of Grand Hyatt Seattle in 2002.
The objective was never to redesign the piece.
Years of real-world hospitality use provided valuable insight into long-term wear patterns and potential impact points.
Based on those observations, ECLECTIC® later introduced discreet protective steel cap details while preserving the original design intent.
The design remained unchanged.
The performance improved.
More than two decades later, the project continues to demonstrate the value of engineering, observation, and continuous refinement.
We didn't redesign the chair.
We engineered it to endure.
